Slowly but surely I am thinning out the groups which I no longer seem to fit into.  I have decided if  even a single  vote is required for my image to be admitted, I am probably in the wrong group and am dropping membership in that group along with the watch on it. I think that the unrestricted groups are most likely the only ones I will support with submissions/ and watch besides my friends galleries. If it gets down to viewing only the unrestricted groups images, I think that it would be a better  selection than some elitist group with a narrow focus.

I think that when other people decide when someone's images are good enough to be included in the groups galleries, its time to rethink my reasons for being in that group. Given that I don't really give a rats rear end if anybody else likes my photos, it makes no sense to get stressed out when one of them is declined for content or lack of whatever someone else feels is "artistic worth". I feel that artistic worth is reserved exclusively to the artist that created or captured the image and is never ever the domain of another person.

I would much rather wander through a huge amount of "OK" images picking and choose for myself which I personally liked than to have them filtered out before hand and be shown only those that someone else feels are "good enough" to be viewed.  If the person submitting the image made the effort to capture or create the image and to share it with the community, I will take the time to look at it myself and not allow someone else to dictate what I am allowed to see.

So support the open groups first and then the narrow focus ones secondly. You will see my images in the open ones from now on unless its a specific camera or film group that I belong to( "if its on film, its worth looking at"......a philosophy  the digital groups seem to have lost ).

I agree with you! I don't submit to groups that have to vote (very rarely anyway) because they often get rejected. I submitted one photo to a nikon group (even had exif data and everything) and it got denied because they thought I photoshopped the bg. They didn't understand how it could be natural and thought I "blurred" it. I got slammed with a harsh and much ruder "we don't accept such photomanipulated photos in our group" response. Oh well!
